Mood Deluxe is Cameron Leonard Schroff.
The Mood Deluxe project is a super-plex hybrid of styles; a work created with gleeful disregard to musical boundaries and a thoroughly Machiavellian approach to composition. Produced by Cameron Leonard Schroff of Nagual Sound Experiment, with the backing of Liquid Records, the Mood Deluxe project captures and delivers what a new generation of dancefloor stompers are looking for; Combining deep trancey elements and hard hitting breaks with more delicate psychedelic meanderings, Cameron has created a style, that although describable in terms of what's out there, is it's own entity and is as fresh on the ears as I'm sure it will be on the dance floor this summer.
Described as 'psychedelic breaks/Tripstep', the Mood Deluxe project is that and a whole lot more.
A talented freelance programmer and mastering engineer, Cameron is part of a new wave of artist/DJ's producing psychedelic dance and dub music under a number of different guises. Alongside his solo and collaborative projects he has also racked up a lot of behind the scenes credits working with some of the biggest names in the mainstream American dance music community.
The extent of Cameron's diverse musical experience is very much in evidence in this project, with elements from all quarters combining to create the unique sound. From commercial clubland to the alternative festival fields, from nu skool to psy, from rainbow to underground, there're hints of it all in there… Uncompromising intro's and sharp exits … head tweaking frequencies, big growling basslines and solid kicks.. this is high octane music for the boys (that is sure to engage the ladies too!). With Liquid Records releasing the debut album The Tangent Universe in 2006, expect to see Cameron playing live, including Glade festival, Sonica, Gnomelands, Wickerman, Neurobiotic, Nano vs Breaksday as well as TBA Liquid Records events.
The past few years saw Cameron living in Los Angeles where he worked as a Music Technology teacher at ICLA, and as a freelance enginneer. Now back in the UK he is currently working on a number of collaborations and side projects: aside from Nagual Sound Experiment which is due for release in October, Cameron is working on a darkpsy/techtrance projet called Frequency Taboo, a psychedelic drum n bass/breaks project with Alex Chameleon from Liquid Sound Design & ID Spiral called TWITCH, a full frequency psychedelia with Liquid's Label manager Djems under the name EMS, as well as NSE vocalist Ras MoiRama's solo dub/hiphop album and roots reggae side project Creation Rockers.
Summer 2005 he debuted Mood Deluxe Live at Glastonbury, the Glade and Hadra in France to great response and extremely positive feedback.
In the past two years he has had the pleasure of sharing the stage in the US and Europe with such names as: Pitch Black, Tripswitch, Youth, Shpongle, Grapes of Wrath, Phony Orphants, OTT, Cosmosis, Tristan, Eskimo, Joti Sidu, Tron, Ecliptic, Slackbaba, Chromotone and Protoculture as well as DJ's Liquid Ross, Djems, Tom Fu, Kana, Mike Chaos, Raja Ram, Lucas and John Phantasm.
