PolyCat is Maria Polykandriotis.

Maria was born and raised in Athens, Greece, where her family maintained very strong musical traditions. She studied classical guitar, piano and midi technology, providing her musical compositions to many Greek artists.
She started studying singing at the National Conservatory of Greece along with private classical-opera lessons. Later on, she attended seminars at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.

She graduated from her College in Athens receiving a Bachelor of Arts (Dance major), as well as English diplomas from the Royal Academy of Dancing and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Her first songs were featured on one of her father's albums at the age of 16. After that she released two albums and has appeared as a guest singer on various projects (Byzantine opera "Stavrosis" by Yiannis Boufides,Greek TV series soundtrack, and many others).

Maria has appeared with most of the well-known Greek musicians and singers of classic and popular repertoire, along with Maria Pharantouri, Petros Gaitanos, Mimis Plessas, Yiannis Poulopoulos, Tolis Voskopoulos e.t.c in worldwide concerts.

In June 2000, she appeared in a classical concert at the International EXPO 2000 in Hanover, Germany, with the Failoni Chamber Orchestra where she performs the works of her father as well as traditional Hungarian songs. In 2003 the same concert took place at Tirana's biggest music hall, with the Albanian symphonic orchestra. Many more concerts have followed with ERT's Musical Ensembles, many festivals (SIMI 2004), as well as concerts and club circuit performances. At this time she is producing and planning to release her third album.
